- Alex de Angelis became the first rider to exceed 200 mph on a motorcycle at IMS, recording a top speed of 201.3 mph in the speed trap in the 2009 Red Bull Indianapolis GP.
- Jorge Lorenzo and Nicky Hayden are the only two MotoGP riders to finish on the podium in each of the first two Red Bull Indianapolis GP races. Lorenzo finished third in 2008 and first in 2009; Hayden finished second in 2008 and third in 2009.
- The inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis GP, in 2008, took place 99 years after the previous motorcycle race at the track, in 1909. That was the first motorized event in IMS history.
- The combined area of front and rear tire contact patches on a MotoGP motorcycle is equal to about the size of two credit cards.
- Riders in MotoGP lean their motorcycles approximately 60 degrees in some turns.
